Narrative: The Garden door

The Garden Door

I have a garden in my house.The garden has a door. One day my friend, James saw it accidently. Both of us opened it. There were spooky spiders. I said to my friend" Wait there is purple stuff on them". My friend said" It is poison". We tried to run back but the door was closed. My friend said" please don't say it is locked." "Yes" I said but there is a key on that baby spider's eggs." How do we get the key?" I said. "Kill all the spiders" said James. "How are we going to do it" I said. We took a big stick and killed all the spiders. Then we quickly took the key and opened the door. We ran back to our houses and went into our beds to sleep.

The Garden Door

Once upon a time there was a garden. It was in my backyard. I tried to open the door but my Dad said " Jahrell do not open the door" "O.K." I said to my Dad. One day, me and my friends opened the door and a black cat was behind the door. The black cat bit me on my arm. I had to go to the doctor and the doctor gave me some medicine to rub on my arm. I had to stay at home for 10 days. On the 11th day I went back to school. I now have the black cat as my pet. It did not bite me again. If it did then I would have to stay home for another 10 days.It will be boring at home, just lying in bed all day long and watch T.V.

John Pule's Style Of Art

We went to the Art Gallery and looked at John Pule's style of art. We adapted his style to show what is important in our lives.

I am Aroha. I am a Maori girl. The Maori patterns in the picture show that I am from New Zealand. The heart in my picture is for my name because Aroha means 'love'. I like going to the beach to fish and collect shells. I also like going to the church and play with my church friends.

I am Dupri. I am Maori boy. I was born in New Zealand. My picture represents the mountain where I live. My picture shows Hangi because I like Hangi. The Silver Fern, the All Blacks and the rugby ball represents New Zealand.

I am Helen. I am a Samoan girl. I was born in Samoa. I wear jandals when I go to Samoa. We play rugby in Samoa. The Silver Fern represents New Zealand and the Coconut Tree represents Samoa.

My name is Cerenity. I am a Maori girl. I have my family in my picture. I was born in New Zealand and so was my family. We use spear to catch fish. The waves in my picture tell that I like going to the beach and swimming.

Henna

Henna paste is made by crushing leaves of henna plant. Henna is a traditional Indian art form. Women usually adorn their hands and feet on occasions such as marriages and festivals. It is also used as a natural hair dye and conditioner. It is growingly becoming popular all over the globe. This term at Tamaki Primary we are learning all about different forms of art. Students used henna to adorn their palms with patterns that signified their own culture.
