Peace in the Park

'Rhythm, Rap and Rhyme.... Creating peaceful times' has been the driving statement for our inquiry this term.

To finish off a wonderful term of learning all the students at Tamaki Primary School participated in 'Peace in the Park' to showcase songs we had chosen.

Our whanau brought picnic blankets and we sang to them class by class, had some band items and then had our community farewell for our Principal Ms Hansell.

This is our first attempt as a class. After watching it we talked about what we could do to make it better, and we have some things to work on (Like more people playing the ukulele, looking at the camera, having our best voices and smiles....).

You will have to look back to see how we have improved after working on being a performer!

We are learning Ukulele in Room 2

To start the term we're getting into learning some ukulele.

Today we were learning the parts of the ukulele through a song.

We are also learning how to strum in time to a beat. Everyone was doing so well strumming in time, that we decided to sing along too!

With practice we will get better and better... and have fun along the way!

Our special secret visitor!

Miss Elliott told Room 2 that we were having a special visitor after morning tea, but she wouldn't say who it was.... so we had a brain storm to guess who it might be... 

We thought it could be Mrs Sharma, Miss Barlow, Mrs Kelly, Caleb, Ms Hansell, Koro, Bob or Miss Kirsty...

When we got to the hall we found out that it was...

Ronald Mc Donald!!

He came in to teach us about being safe on and near the road.

The New Cat

In Room 2 we read the book 'The New Cat' by Joy Cowley

We looked in our lunch boxes and thought about what Greedy Cat would eat if he was in our class.. this is what we thought...

Aspirations

WELCOME TO ROOM 2

WOW the start of the term has absolutely flown by! 

Miss Elliott and Room 2 can't believe that it's already the end of week 6!

Below is a snippet of a catchup through photos of what we have been up to... Bring on 2013!

We have had Butterfly plants in our class this term - First we needed
to put them outside so the butterfly could lay eggs!

The eggs were tiny!! We had fun looking at them every day to
see if they had hatched. 

They were TINY when they first hatched

But soon they grew!

We have been learning out body parts

We painted one side of the paper, then folded it over to make butterflies! 

Number twister is SO MUCH fun!

Room 2 with Quentin The Bear, otherwise known as Q.T Bear.
He has been helping us go through the 'Skills for Growing' program.

We had the DUFFY assembly! It was AWESOME
