There has been lots happening in Room 2 the last little while....

Last week on Friday we had our Duffy Role model assembly.
Our role model was Tony Williams, he talked about how important it is to learn words and read us some of the new book he is writing!

Paeroa and Paki were given Duffy books for having an awesome attitude towards reading! 

 Last week we had a go at paper mache, Our shared book for the week was 'The swamp nest', so we made some swamp eggs! We learnt what happens when we mix flour and water together, and we learnt how to work together. Look at all our green balloons!

It was also the last day for Abigail before moving over to Samoa to live.
 We will miss you Abigail, hope you have a great time over there, and keep up the awesome learning!

Easter eggs and Calais is 6!!

Last Thursday Tamaki Primary was gifted Easter Eggs! Janaiah was very happy about getting hers.

The students in Room 2 weren't allowed to eat them until they got home, when  we talked about them today, some students ate them all on their own, some shared with others, and some gave them to their brothers and sisters to have! 

Calais is now 6!

Over the long weekend Calais turned 6! Room 2 had some party cake to celebrate.

Today we wrote about Ronald Mc Donald coming into our school, we were focusing on using our word cards and sounding out the letters all on our own for words that weren't on there... 

Paeroa did it!!!

Buddy Time!!

We had buddy time today with Room 9!

We're looking forward to doing more learning together throughout the year.

Today we read together and practiced our spelling words.

Our special secret visitor!

Miss Elliott told Room 2 that we were having a special visitor after morning tea, but she wouldn't say who it was.... so we had a brain storm to guess who it might be... 

We thought it could be Mrs Sharma, Miss Barlow, Mrs Kelly, Caleb, Ms Hansell, Koro, Bob or Miss Kirsty...

When we got to the hall we found out that it was...

Ronald Mc Donald!!

He came in to teach us about being safe on and near the road.

Foam Fun!

On Friday Room 1 and Room 2 joined for the day...

We had fun writing our numbers, words, letters and names in foam!

Our Garden

We are very lucky, and have our own school garden!

Today Bob took us for a guided tour, showing us the yummy kumara being dug up, some seeds sprouting and we got to eat a yellow cherry tomato!

We're looking forward to seeing what pops up next

Aspirations

WELCOME TO ROOM 2

WOW the start of the term has absolutely flown by! 

Miss Elliott and Room 2 can't believe that it's already the end of week 6!

We have had Butterfly plants in our class this term - First we needed
to put them outside so the butterfly could lay eggs!

The eggs were tiny!! We had fun looking at them every day to
see if they had hatched. 

They were TINY when they first hatched

But soon they grew!

We painted one side of the paper, then folded it over to make butterflies! 

Number twister is SO MUCH fun!

Congratulations to our parents who successfully completed the Reading Together Programme this year.

Eruption of Mt. Tongoriro

Yesterday Mt. Tongoriro exploded. No one knew because there was no warning. There were children from a school on the mountain when it exploded. They screamed and they were scared. they only saw ash clouds in the sky. the flights were cancelled. This means that if you are living in Mt. Tongoriro, you cannot go to other places. The eruption lasted for five minutes. The ash cloud was about 3 kilometers up in the sky.it was very dark and hot. Now we are not allowed near Mt. Tongoriro because it might explode again.
